RE: RUBBER BRAKE SEALS FOUND THEM

ok here is the info on off the shelf rubber seals and cups that you have to match up with your orginal and make your owne rebuild kit.
http://www.precisionassoc.com/
look at the pictures and dementions and call them remember to ask for EPDM perioxide cured rubber components . any other compound will fail in brake fluid.
also if you just want someone to rebuild your stuff you can go to :
http://www.precisionrebuilders.com/about_us.html
they rebuild your brake and satarters and alternators.
if you have any problems or need help let me know. i can walk you through. ifyou never worked on brakes you need to find a mechanic that will work with you. be safe dont work on stuff you dont know anything about.
i just finished today bleeding the brakes several times to get all the air out of the hydrolic side. the bus stops well now .

RE: Hairline cracks in fiberglass

fiberglass repairs are easy like doing finger panting in kindergarden...lol seriously go to the library and look for a corvette fiberglass repair book. this will give you ideas as to how . you can fix several sq ft of cracked fiberglas for $20 but its the time and cost of touching up with matching paint. your manufacture will give you a paint code.
if it dont leak i would not worry . a few stress cracks are better to have then a botched fiberglas repair job. i learned the hard way. also you can go to a auto fiberglas repair place and ask if you can watch... and learn.
i learned on corvettes 40 years ago. and iam still learning.

RE: air assisted brakes

the main reason for air over hydrolic is for diesels which dont have vacuum. and if you have disk brakes... hydraulic is the only way to go reasonably. the booster just gives you better braking power . the dish brakes are easy to service and the air/hydrolic master cylinder is also reaplaceable quickly if parts are available.
as it happens my brake cylinder is not available so iam scrounging for parts. the calipers are in most large auto parts stores.

RE: How to quiet a mini fan

look for someone to through out a computer on road side pick up. thats how i get mine. they are usually 12 volts dc and you can power them from your nearest 12 light circut. the small ones use less than one amp . the one i have in my frig uses 0.07 amp which you can leave it running for 20 years...it hardly uses any power. also under stand they are FFFFRRRREEEEEEEEEEEE!!

RE: Black tank leak

READ THE 3M SPEC SHEET. i been using polyester resin for 45 years now. on ABS after softening with acetone i have gotten great results. resin and glass cloth works for me and so far no leaks. the mechanical strength of polyester( boat resin) available at walmart and boat shops. its in expensive and works for lots of projects.
in holding tanks the preasures of the liquids there are very low. silicone calk will work to plug the crack, but will have poor adheasion to the abs and could pop out when driving. so squirt silicone deep in the crack of the holding tank sand then clean with acttone surrounding area at least one inch, then do the fiberglassing with boat resin. the resin will give mechanical strength to the silicone " cork" and will reinforce the repair. resin will not stick to silicone itjust gives mechanical strenght so "plug " wont pop out.

RE: RV LEDs not impressed

i look for LED bargans: go to dallar stores ... found lots
even wally world had some. look for close outs for $1 i resently purchased 20 umbrella led lights for a buck each . modified them to run directly on 12 volts. one guy said they were ugly . but when boon docking i want light and low current draw. found lots of hocky puck leds for a buck to. as well as cheap flashlights that i dissemble and rewire for 12 volts.
SINCE IAM RETIRED AND HAVE TIME ON MY HANDS and frequently in a rv park ...its somthing to do thats productive.
also i wired new leds and kept the incandesent as back up in case i need more light.
LOOK AT MY OTHER POSTINGS. HERE.
another thing i bought led bulb replacements for $26 from ebay and for the money was not impressed. but was easy to install. so for about $100 you could refit 4 light fixtures if you dont know how to rewire stuff.
LED IS THE WAY TO GO.

RE: Is antenna booster really needed for DTV on batwing antenna?

for boondocking the current draw is almost neglible . i measured it and was like 150 miliamps. the led takes 30 ma. the problem when turing off the amplifier which is part of the antanna circutry . the pass through of a unpowed amp is very low so your pic looks crapy. you can just buy a cheapo rabit ears and see how that works. now down in houston i did that and i still got 20 stations.
one thing you can do is switch off the amp when not the tv is not in use.
at home my house unamplified is a poor second to the mh amplified antenna. like 5 stations vs. 15

RE: Clouded headlight lenses

i use a clear coat polish that i got from the auto stores years ago. its just a rubbing compound i believe but does a good job. just yeater day i repeated polishing with a waxing cleaner cream.
walmart here is offering to do the job for customers i think $30.
now to clean up the inside ... but dont scar or even touch the reflective coating on insides. one of these days i will first try a clean rag in a stick and see if the inside is just dusty.
mine are Ford style. any one replace with glass ones?
to fix the lumination problem i bough $9 clear fog lights from Harbor Freight. works great and gives about 3x light as stock headlights. i switch them seperately and gives nite time great road visibility...
would love to install xenon lights. anyone know of ones that fit and look good?
